week one down

We got through week one with lots of challenges....but we got through it!.........RV wasn't ready when Dean went to pick it up so we didn't leave until last Wednesday afternoon, arriving at the Tallahassee campground after dark....not so bad but we were exhausted and setting up in the dark is a pain!  The next day was pretty uneventful and we were able to relax a little.....spent 2 days in Bay St. Louis, MS.  The RV park was walking distance to a casino....dangerous for us (o:.....
The next 3 legs of the journey proved to be very stressful....long travel days and one night stands....it takes forever to get through Texas!  One of the RV parks in West Texas was in the middle of a very depressed area....abandoned buildings, no scenery, etc....but they did have a really good Mexican restaurant.  We left early in the morning and headed to our next stop....Rio Rancho, NM....an 8 hour drive through some pretty desolate country.....not an area where you'd want to have a breakdown!....then we hit 55 MPH winds!....traveling against it did a number on our gas mileage!  We arrived safe and sound in Rio Rancho on Monday....the winds still crazy high!  Tuesday morning brought calmer winds, sunshine and temperatures in the 40's.  This is a beautiful area....will post photos later....and the people have been so friendly (except for a customer service person at Walmart....yeah, we had to pick up a few things and the Walmart is around the corner).  The campground is a little odd....there is no grass on any of the sites.....river rock and asphalt.  The dog walking area is at the end of our row, up a high curb and through a gate, out into a dirt field.  Mischka would have no part of it!  He tinkles on the river rock and poops in the road!  Interestingly, there are 8 "premium" sites with grass.....upon closer inspection, we discovered the "grass" is fake!
Saturday we plan on taking a drive to Santa Fe.  Monday we head to the Flagstaff area and some Grand Canyon sightseeing.

Namaste,
Tobi
